FEP system is broken (I think)

Postby donatas » Sun May 08, 2016 8:29 pm

I had 14 intellect out of 17 and then ate food that had something like 4 agility so in terms I should have had intellect raised, but got agility. I know it is 50/50 when they both are the same number but now I had intellect higher so how come it got the lesser one? Or is it every last FEP points that fills up the bar would be rewarded.

Not a bug. Moved to Hel.
(if 8 out of 10 is X and 2 out of 10 is Y, there's 80% chance for X and 20% for Y)

therefore x has 4x greater chance of being x so it should have been X anyway, not Y.

You are never guaranteed an outcome. The points simply define the random table. If you need 10 FEPs to level up, and have 2 AGI and 8 Int, you have a 20% chance of leveling AGI, meaning that in one case out of five you will, statistically speaking, get AGI. Not a bug.

I know this is an old discussion, but how do you process FEP overflow? For example:
I need 10 FEP to lvlup, currently i have 6 INT and 2 AGI. I eat food that gives 2 INT and 10 AGI. What are the chances here? How does "decrease max fep for every new type of food" mechanics works with this calculations?

You will still get variety bonus, but these do not affect chances calculation just the level trigger.
In example case you will have 8 INT and 12AGI total FEP, so 40% for INT and 60% for AGI.

This is only one possible way how it can work. I hope jorb/loftar will tell how the system currently works.

I am saying I believe this is how it currently works.
