problem planting yellow onions

anybody else currently having problems planting yellow onions?

I hand dug the place twice and only got 2 of the 3 squares of dirt to plant. I know its dirt as I dug up the onions from there.


edit: every time I right click to plant it tries to make a stockpile

I assume the plot is plowed?

Did you make sure nothing else is planted there?

Are you using a custom client? If so, can you repeat it with default client?

You need to plow, not have dirt.
