Mysterious Skinned Cows

Not seen a thread about this.

I have been finding random skinned cows all over the wilderness and in places that they would not be expected. People have even reported to me that they have one in their village. These cannot be butcher or skinned, and never decay as far as I know, always remaining in the same spot. They do have a hitbox. I do not know when or why they appear. To trigger this bug all you have to do is come across one in the wilderness.

Anyone else encountered this? Pretty weird.

I think the game doesn't allow skinned animals to decay, and as someone was butchering, they ran out of stamina, causing some sort of underflow or weird state. Although I'm sure there's other ways to get unbutcherable bodies, running out of stamina mid-butcher usually works.

Domesticated cattle do not decay iirc.
