Palisade wrecking bug?

Postby thomas_ewing » Thu Aug 11, 2016 2:54 am

This may just horrific luck, but it seemed too coincidental not to post.

After the update (which removed palibashing by hand), I used a wrecking ball to destroy two palisade walls on my own claim. Everything worked normally, but there was no splash damage on either section when it was removed (that is, only the segments hit by the ball were destroyed). It was the first time I've ever had that happen, and thought it might have been an unintended consequence of the change. If my luck is really that bad, well, I guess I should find some pearls washed up on a beach tomorrow.

Which isn't that bad imho, since the splash damage was imho overpowered.

Suggestion for 'Instead of splash damage':
Breaking a segment should damage the directly adjacent ones to below 50% health, at that point they (same with brickwalls and all other structure with soak) should become hand-bashable.

This would enable players to remove existing walls up to the point they intend to.
Plus it would enable easy intrusion into abandoned placed (where the walls got damaged by decay because of lack of authority).

I'm fairly sure it was just coincidence. Splash-damage does seem to work pretty well when I tested it just now. Post pearls.

If it is that the splash damaged is overpowered, then at least in the first instance I'd rather just tweak it down a bit.

It appears that Loftar is correct, and my luck was awful. When continuing to wreck the same palisade, splash damage worked normally today.

Thanks for checking.
