Connection reset

Postby punkyone » Tue Sep 27, 2016 6:12 pm

Hello, I keep getting the same message "Connection reset" after every attempt to login.
What does this mean ? (I can't find any info about it) and is there any way to fix it ?

Without more information, it's hard to say the specific cause. This is usually caused by one end or the other unexpectedly closing the network connection. I wouldn't suspect the server anymore because it should have enough bandwidth and hardware to support the number of users. Odds are this is local.

Check virus and other security software, including built in firewalls on your router--these could be causing the connection to close prematurely or blocking communications. Configure them to allow Java apps and/or Haven to pass through. If need be, you'll need to give access to the ports TCP 1871 and UDP 1870.

I've had a couple of other thoughts about possibilities, but those shouldn't be an issue if software is up-to-date.

Thanks for the answer.

After checking a bit I found out that the port is blocked (dorm internet).
Soo... any reason why this is blocked ? because i have access to mostly anything i want/need.
This is the first restriction that I bumped into... I've been here for more than 1 year.

You'd have to check with your network admin as to why it would be restricted. It's not a "normal" traffic port (such as http, ftp, or typical gaming ports).

There is some network traffic magic you can use to fake your way through, but doing so can be a violation of your school's network policy. I really suggest checking first as to why it's blocked.

Local issue with user. Not a bug.
