I have tried to gild Chieftains hat with hard metal rivets.
Both have Charisma attribute and match.

Unlike other gildings - equiping items with charisma boost (bear cape and tooth talisman) do not increase gilding chance

... ok? Not sure I believe that, but I guess I'll look at it.

I certainly get an increased chance. Not sure what you are seeing.

Your equipment most likely doesn't add enough charisma to affect the percentage.
