Land survey limit

Postby jordancoles » Sun Oct 23, 2016 12:02 pm

So if you lay over 5 land surveys you get a system message saying you can only lay a max of 5 per day, but if you remove one of the surveys from the gameworld you can then place another one no problem

However, I've noticed that if another players removes the surveys that were placed, then it does not count back from the 5 total for the original character that laid the survey. THis means that I have 0 surveys in the game world, but I'm unable to place another because the game thinks I still have 5 laid out somewhere

Placing one decrements your counter (which is reset every day), removing one increments it. You can test that easily by letting one character place some, then remove them with a second char (still having all 5 charges), after that the second char is able to place his own plus the ones he assimilated - was at least that way last time I tested it, iirc.

So not really a bug, but a mechanic.

Small problem, but I'm not too fond of the survey limit as is. Will look at it.

It really only comes into play if you're dual boxing terraforming. If so, just have the alt the removed the previous surveys place it and then remove it with the other alt.
Really, you don't need more than 5 surveys outside of laziness.

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Discussed it, and decided that this is intended. If you're placing your surveys in such a way that others feel the need to remove them, then you should perhaps take it a bit easy.

Won't fix.

It's not "others" removing them, but their own alts on a second client. It's like Granger and onep point out, though. Not really bug except for the handful of "make a thousand alt slaves to build a pyramid" players.

jorb, here's a suggestion

the survey has a limit of 30x30 tiles. You could make a second tool that wouldn't have the "make level" option but could be used to inspect a much larger area so that a person would know what is the average lvl for the entire area of his intended base.

Seems a bit marginal in use.
