Pitbaked goods and fireplace bug

Pitbaked goods won't bake in a fireplace. I can bake them in an oven, but not in a fireplace.

Ok I'll try again, but I'm pretty positive the fireplace had quite a bit of heat. I lit it from glowing embers.

You can relight it while there is even a little heat left, the baking will speed up with the amount of heat there is.

Yeah that's what the problem was. It works well now that the heat is full. Thanks for the education.

Doesn't need to be full, just needs to be some heat/coal build up in the fireplace first before they start baking. I've just been sticking mine into a cold fireplace and lighting it. Takes ~5-10 minutes for enough heat build up for them to start cooking. Sorry, haven't explicitly timed it yet to know for sure how long it takes enough heat to build up.
