Shield does not provide armor

Wearing shield as only piece of armor and fighting i've seen 0 damage blocked by shield and received full damage from all attacks.
It`s description implies it should provide some neat damage reduction.

Was this in a spar? It doesn't seem to show damage reduction properly. Ants also pierce armour frequently.

I do use shield up (though it should not affect armor effectiveness).
It was not in a spar, vs animals like ants, foxes and i think boar (not sure).
I am aware ants pierce armor, but i never get more than 1 damage from ant in full armor. Yet with shield (and only shield) i was getting full damage and 0 blocked damage.
Also might worth noting that my shield still have 0 wear despite being used since the start of the world and all my other armor got some damage in fights.

Hmm, i never got any wear on the shield either, only on other armor. So now im also thinking it might not be working properly?

Did some more tests on different animals - it indeed feels like shield is completely useless in terms of armor.

Aggro a bear and let him have you. Then check the shield. If still zero wear - than we are sure it doesn't work.
