This came up here: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=53779

A workaround for now:

Try using alt(as in: other char not keyboard key) to inspect it (preferably even from other account?)

Only had it happen with first animal I tamed (was male horse). Didn't have that issue later on.

Have the same issue. Tethered animal can't be inspected, but when you untether it, the "inspect" button works just fine.

I've got this issue but I believe it's because of my custom client.
It works fine for a friend

This issue and what you linked are probably connected somehow althrough in my case I couldn't inspect animal while it was and wasn't tethered.

In my case I thought that a rollback that had happened mid taming might have something to do with it but.. seems more people are having same/similiar issues now.

Please confirm that this happens on the vanilla client.
