Wrong animations and speed

Destroying something with shovel in the hands gives chopping animation without visible hatchet.

Sand digging by hands or shovel have no animations at all.

Using shovel in sand digging does not speed up process.

If you break something without anything in your hands it'll have the chopping animation, shovels just don't add damage so they aren't used.
Not a bug, maybe an overlook by a stretch.
Try to shovel sand, throwing it with your hands is probably faster.

If you're talking about an actual shovel or device to move sand... yeah, you don't use a spade. There are special materials shovels you use that are more like a big two-handed scoop. That or you use a "come along" rake to pull/push sand. Still, a spade is faster than using your hands.
