Horse got knocked out and won't get up

I got attacked by a bear, had to run to the boat. After I got into a boat, bear attacked a horse and knocked it out. It was lying like this for the whole day. Right-click won't give any options, rope gives "animal threshes wildly" system message. Will it eventually get up, or is it dead? Cause I can't butcher it, or anything, though "inspect" button gives me message about it's quality as if it was dead.
