My Map Reset while playing

Postby ZantetsukenX » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:34 pm

Hey all,

Sort of a weird issue where I was playing, searching for string to finish off a Windmill and doing some other random things. Map was working fine about 20 minutes prior but I went to check the map to see how close the river was and everything was blank again except for my base square. Not the biggest deal if I lose it all, but is there any known way to restore it if this happen?

As a side note, all my markers still exist but when I click on them they go to blank/black (unexplored) areas. Also using only the default client so it shouldn't be any custom client stuff that messed it up.

I guess you deleted somehow your temporary Java files, using some software to clean your computer.....

That's the thing. I don't have anything that runs automatically and I never left the game client between when it filled out and when it reset. That's what is so strange to me.

EDIT: So now one of my characters has some pitch black squares covering up near my base that don't fill in when I walk past them. Any suggestions on fixing this even if it means resetting the map back to blank (again)?

So it looks like I have some black boxes that are now on my map that won't go away either. At this point I think I would be fine just restarting the map over again. What do I need to delete to do this?

Btw, here's what my map looks like:

On windows the client stores its data in the %USERPROFILE%\.haven folder, on unixoid systems ~/.haven should be what you're looking for.

If you're on Windows and multi-client (several instances in parallel): there are reports of map corruptions doing this.

You could try removing the .haven folder (like by renaming) to have it recreated. Possibly the is some corruption in the map data from back then which, with time, gets worse.

Sigh... So I ended up deleting the Haven data and starting over again fresh and new. Everything was great for a week or two but it's back to being broken like before. I don't multi client or anything. Sole user of this computer with only the one account ever used. I wonder why this keeps happening. Just using the default client but I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should switch to a custom client to avoid this.

Same problem. Vanilla version. In World 9 it was the same. Always black squares on the base :\
Sometimes the whole base is closed, sometimes one part of the base, sometimes another part. I deleted and changed files, but the problem does not disappear.

The basement is placed on the map (light points in the center of the squares - entrance to the basement).

It would be helpful when you would post information about your system, like os, java, stuff as
