Can't plant seeds

I've recently made a new base (36x36) and I'm trying to plant cucumbers & Lettuce but it just doesn't work... anybody know a fix or why this happens? I've tried in multipele spots (old base and new) and it has worked neither time. However when I first started I took some pumpkins from somebody (and the pumpkin seeds) and I could plant those just fine.

Are you trying to plant the head of lettuce? If so you need to break it apart to plant the seeds like a pumpkin.

Cucumbers need to be planted on a trellis.

make sure you have at least 5 of that one kind of seed as well. you can only plant seeds 5 at a time
