General rule is that items that have no quality values (silver, gold, etc.) that are asked as sacrifice don't need to meet the requirement to get points or are otherwise penalized for using a "lower quality" item. This was bugged right after the introduction of the mechanic, but was subsequently fixed.

Ancestral Shrine discuss this issue. It's a bug if you lose or otherwise can't use an item that should be allowed to be sacrificed to gain a point.
