Holla
i can't finish quest Quarryman crevice which requires chip hornblende x5, because hornblende can't be "stone" so can't chip.

Try to prospect a spot that has Hornblende underneith -> Mark out said spot -> Build log cabin on it -> Dig Cellar
Normally makes boulders of the specific type of rock that is directly underneath you (lvl 5 makes gneiss as default i believe since nothing under that)

This idea came to me, but I think this is not an option

If all you need is a hornblende boulder to chip stone from, it's worth a shot.

Flip side is looking at how some of the other credo quests are exact in requirements. I'm thinking of the swan one.

Did you try mining some, or digging from a stone patch?

chip refers to from a boulder (otherwise it would state Mine Hornblend)

Did you actually try it or did you simply read the words of the quest (which might be unprecise, hence my question)?

I tried it. I can confirm that mining hornblende does not count for chipping hornblende.

I completed the quest by hacking at rock towers until I found one that gave hornblende boulders.

Good to know.

I completed the quest by hacking at rock towers until I found one that gave hornblende boulders.

That could be a problem in late worlds, should all the pillars already be gone.
Or in early worlds, as one might lack the strength to destroy one of them.

Early it'd be a matter of hunting around until you could find the right boulder.

Maybe be better if the stone needed is based on region of world and what's been spawned nearby, dug up from a stone patch, or actually mined.
