tanning tub doesn't show any progress or even make leather

I have 2 tanning tubs that have hides tanning since 2 days ago, but all of this time they haven't shown any signs of progress and by the articles i've read online it should have been done by now, everything else in the game shows the progress of the process except by the tanning tubs.
I attached a screenshot of my tanning tubs with the hides and filled with the tanning fluid.

Your tubs look like they're full of water but they're missing the bark. Try taking some bark and right clicking it onto the tubs. Once you have enough bark in it the water should turn brown.

You may also want to pull the hide out of the water, and then place it back in.

I've heard people's tubs not restarting, but I've not seen it myself. It can take several minutes for the server to tick leather tubs. I've not had an issue with it this world after refilling tubs.

I've had the issue a few times (not recently as the village I am in has other people who take care of leather). Not when it was a 2x2 skin, but usually with 1x1 or 2x1 skins, pulling one of them out may result in the others ticking into leather.
