Pickaxe dissapeared

With a bucket in one hand, and one empty hand, I tried picking up a pickaxe. It dissapeared. My inventory was full at the time.

Picking stuff up while you have a full inventory seems to commonly cause problems. Did it go on your cursor and you accidentally dropped it? Were you in a house?

Where did you get the pick from--ground, backpack, tool belt? What kind of equipment do you have, namely belt--is it a tool belt with an inventory? What client are you using? What sequence of commands did you use to pick up the pick? Simply picking up the pick should have placed it on the cursor and nothing else. Using an auto-collect command might have put it in an open container or in a tool belt.
