Boiling q10 mussels yield q14-15 mussels for me.

I believe to notice this glitch with a few other objects, but only recently learned it was a glitch.

You're mistaken.

your boiling your Q10 mussels in at least Q20 water and (probably) a Q20-30 cauldron. those are in fact parts of the ingredients.

if your mussels are Q50, your water is Q50, and your cauldron is Q50, you will receive Q50 cooked mussels unless your relevant skills softcap them.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense now. Thank you.

This is usually the case when the station and tools used are a part of the recipe: nearly all cauldron recipes, smithing, leather vats, etc. In some cases the station does merely act as a softcap, especially when there is no player skills involved (other than building the station) such as with herbalist tables.

There is some consistency, but there are enough exceptions you should consult the wiki for recipes if you're not sure.

Resolved.
