PKIX path building failed etc etc

I'm having precisely the same trouble as the author of this post.
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=58581

I ran CCleaner. I reinstalled the 32-bit version of Java. And then the 64-bit version. Twice.

I have an Intel HD... 550 gfx card? 8 GB of RAM. Running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Yoga 710.

Please and thank you for further instruction.

Ah, well. Thank you, anyway.

If it's of any help, my graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 520. Does Java just bugger off with Intel cards? Because it's also messing with other Java programmes, in particular my multiplayer Minecraft attempts.

Intel's OpenGL support is poor. According to Intel, they fully support the standards, but quite often something is found lacking. Some cases have been hardware flaws (GMA 2x, 3x GPUs), others have been software design issues that have never been fixed. Add in to that Intel doesn't mandate hardware implementations use the standard Intel drivers, even though most do. Dell is one of the major culprits here, though there are others. (One of the reasons I never recommend buying Dell or Dell related products... great if you're buying computers that you're going to effectively throw away in a year or two, absolutely no good if you're looking for something you can keep updated over 3-5+ years.)

Yeah, I kinda figured that when I was buying a laptop with an Intel card it was going to be a piece of shit. Eh, it was worth $285; surprisingly, it plays Tropico 5 well enough; Java is the only time I really had any problems with it.

Ah well. Maybe I can get one of my other machines working so I can play it. Thanks MagicMan.

Lesson learned: never use Intel for gaming; always use NVIDIA and/or ATI.

Intel is fine if you're going to stick to DirectX applications and don't mind the bottom end performance. For some reason Intel can't quite seem to get OpenGL properly supported. It was an utter mess up through the 4xxx series GPUs, and has seemed to work the last few generations well enough, just poor performance.

UPDATE: this problem occurs with the Legacy client, too.

I decided to throw Jorbtar $15 and get my fix for HnH in SOME manner. But this same thing happened again. So it's certainly not the GFX card.

It seems to deal with the security certificate of the legacy client. I'm doing some research to see if I can find a workaround. It seems to require some deeper knowledge of and tools for Java that I don't presently have.

Did you try with any custom client too?

For legacy use the Union client Kaizo fixed ... url at WT

And if you're using an AV program check wether it's the latest version or just disable it for a test

I tried the Union Client 64. The batch file does not even bring up the application. The batch runs... then nothing.

Weird thing is, something is running in it, because when I went to delete the client, it wouldn't let me. Something was running.

I eventually gave up, got a new computer with an AMD graphics card on it. That card is better than my old laptop's card, anyway, and I got it at a good price.
Intel cards are not good. Just don't use them.

This thread can probably be locked, now. There's nothing new to say.

Resolved then, with initial cause being a bad graphics card.

Have a good world 11.
