Not sure what caused it, I left to shear sheep and when I came back it was quiet. Cauldron still boiling away like nothing's amiss.

Are you saying there is no fuel or water when you got back? You extinguished it beforehand? More specifics might be helpful to diagnosis and resolve the situation.

this implies that there is still fuel and water in it and it is not extinguished cause otherwise it wouldn't be boiling

I think I misread your post, then. I was reading as you expected it to not be going, not the lack of sound from the active cauldron.
