Infertile goats?

Postby pheonix » Mon Mar 05, 2018 8:00 am

I dont know if this is a bug or not so im asking everyone with goats, are yours pregnant? because i have 3 females 4 rams for at least a day in a pen and nothing i would have assumed they would've had the urge by now but none of them have had sex yet. Its got me wondering if the sex animation was put in for goats.

Sometimes there just is that crazy little thing called lo... err RNG. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't.

There's been reports of this off and on over the years. Best suggestions I've seen are that A) the female is already pregnant, you just missed it; B) separate them out for an hour or so and then put them back in a pen together; C) just give it more time--a few days isn't completely unheard of for breeding animals.

You could try walking them on a leash for a little exercise (take each of them on a walk seperately) and then put them back in the pen and check them again in 24 hours to see if they are pregnant. It would be like they were all meeting again for the first time. It might work but if nothing else it would give you something different to try. :)

If I were to take a random guess at the actual cause, it would be something like this. Taking them out of range of each other with enough time for the map area to unload (15-20 minutes unoccupied) seems to fix as often as not, at least from what I've heard. Somehow the code to flag "get pregnant" doesn't get processed right after taming or some such, and then they have to sit and wait on some randomness because the server doesn't see them within range of each other.

Might be related to the taming issue where animals wandering into another grid get detached from the post and despawn.

they have about 24hour wait period before breeding after being domesticated (both male and female must wait), just have some patience

:!: :?: So, what is the working way to make them mate? 9 sheeps and 3 goats. More than 24 hours gone... No one pregnant sheep...

Goats fuck procreate after they first grow wool. Confirmed info since it was my first ever theory once I tamed them and there was no action for 12h. And then they grew wool and suddenly became horny.
