Significant amount of trolls from Cave Hermit credo.

I've made an alt character recently for the Cave Hermit credo specifically. I mined with the character for about a week after gaining level 1 of the credo (Significantly increased risk of mining out trolls.) but, not completing the credo levels entirely. Mining out 2-4 trolls per 30,000 mined tiles. Now with the credo completed I am barely mining out 1 troll per 100,000 mined tiles.
This significant change couldn't just be bad luck, could it?


EDIT: Mined tiles up to 450,000 since completing Cave Hermit without a troll. There has to be something wrong here...

considering I spawned 6 trolls in ~2h of mining with completed cave hermit, then didn't spawn one from mining out ~400 stockpiles of black ore which was followed by spawning 3 trolls from mining out area of 5 stone pillars, I'd say you just got a bit of bad rng.

Also worth noting, it has been commented on that trolls have 'nodes' like everything else. If you mined out 450,000 tiles in "troll-less" areas, then of course you're not going to get one.
