Framerate Issues and Client Crashing

Postby OblongNoodle » Tue May 15, 2018 10:02 pm

Last night I was playing for several hours straight and had no frame-rate issues unless going near very dense villages (which is pretty normal).

Today I log in in my home and as soon as I walk outside I drop 20-30 frames (I'm usually sitting at 60fps consistently).

Unfortunately I don't have much more to offer than this. I was mostly wondering if there was some update that would have caused framerate to drop drastically. It causes things to be very jerky and my client has crashed a couple times.

Check your system for software updates. There could have been an operating system or device driver update that could be causing the problem, or a configuration file may have been overwritten during the update process. Since most modern operating systems like to update automatically, it can be easy to miss something that changed and could cause problems.

While there was an update to Haven yesterday, I'm not aware of anything being touched as far as the graphics engine goes.

A crash log would be nice.

Where are the crashlogs located?

If a Java app crashes, it should pop up a window with the crash report. In some cases you'll need to search out the log file "hs_err_pid.log," usually located in location you installed Java to.

If you're using a custom client (such as Amber), you may need to modify the batch file. At the end, add the command "Pause" on a new line. Also, verify your issues are with Haven itself, or that the problem is just the client mod by running the standard client. If the problem is with the client mod, you should take the issue up with the person(s) that are working on it.
