Can't Gild Beast Ring

Any ideas why I can gild every other item I've made so far besides the Beast Ring?

Only gems can be gilded onto rings as far as I know.

Suggestion: trying to put "regular" gild into any ring will give error message that explains it will only take gems.

When trying to put non-gem gild into ring: "Rings can only be gilded with gems."

When trying to put gem on non-ring gear: "Gems can only be gilded into rings."

(Additional error messages crossed my mind randomly and found this thread by searching.)
