Laptop shuts off after a while of playing

Postby Killswitch » Sun Feb 10, 2019 5:50 pm

Hello everyone,

After about 20-30 minutes of playing, my laptop "goes to sleep" as if it was overheating. However, I am using cooling pad, the temperatures are okay (also not shutting off while running other games). All my updates are up-to-date, running:

AMD Radeon 8500 HD/Intel HD 620
8 GB Ram
Intel i7-7500U

Also, when launching the game, get around 8 prompts of "OpenGL ES Error - Can't find the name of Intel ICD OpenGL Driver".

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Upgrade your video drivers, my error disappeared when I did the upgrade.

Do you run with Power connected? Try different Energy options in windows ... prolly if you're using a power saving scheme it doesn't switch to the dedicated ATI grafics thus you got the prompts

I stopped getting the prompt after manually updating the integrated Intel GPU drivers, however, my laptop will still behave like after overheating and go to sleep mode on it's own… I have tried everything i know of and the outcome stays the same :(

when you say efficient, i'm assuming you mean max power (which is what we want) and not max energy efficieny (which could be the problem)

this might sound counterintuitive, but try rolling your drivers back to some earlier version. i've had a doozy of a time with some of my GPU drivers and updates and i've found some of the newer drivers for older cards just break on win10.
