While we're on the subject of wonky bounding boxes, I'd like to point out the soil stockpile's bounding box doesn't properly match the visual either:

You're aware that this impacts players regardless of client, right? The bounding box is the 'size' of the object for purposes of determining whether you can walk there or place an object there. At least with a custom client you can see what empty space you're getting stuck on; if I were to put two soil stockpiles next to each other you wouldn't be able to walk through the empty space between them and with the vanilla client you'd have no idea why.
