Shield not taking damage?

Postby IngloriouslyBad » Tue Mar 26, 2019 6:17 am

So my little round shield has been virtually untouched over the past few weeks, while I've gone through a couple sets of armor. Am I missing something that I didn't know or understanding something wrong? I've been putting asking this question off for a while, but I thought it prudent now that I'm considering dropping the shield for a 2h weapon.

You'd think one would put a shield between you and your target, rather than taking the hits on your head, feet, and chest first. :?:

Did you equip it? :) I am using 3rd shield already. It doesn't wear as quick as, f.e. leather armor but it does take damage. I use it with shield up stance though. Have not tried it on full UA character...

Same thing for me, for some reason I need to replace my leg armor every few days because it's virtually the only one taking damage

From what I have noticed, whatever piece of armor you equip first will be the first to take damage in combat.

If your shield is the first thing you equip, it will begin to absorb damage first until it reaches its armor threshold in which the rest of the damage is then sent to the next piece and so on and so forth.

Since it's relatively normal to take 1-2 damage per animal attack after the first it's recommended to have easy to replace armor equipped first (i.e shields or Bronze Plate) in order to save the more valuable and harder to produce items (Wrought/Steel based armor)

tldr:

Unequip all of your armor and then re-equip in the order you want it all to take damage.
