Firebrand ninjanerf?

Ok. I have been trying to light a fire 4 times in a row and failing. This has not happened to me during this world, and I can not remember to have failed twice in a row for worlds.
Was there a ninja nerf to the firebrand? April fools gag?

Edit: Was succesfull on the sixth attempt.

7 fails in a row is ordinary thing for me.

Nothing was changed. I was 18 times succesful in firing it up as well as 13 times failed in a row. Pure RNGesus.
