Cannot change villager colours

I am the lawspeaker of a village. I have two members who are appearing as white. I would like to grant them permissions by turning their colour to green but I cannot do so. They remain white.

Perhaps you're just misunderstanding the UI? It just lists displays village members without any color; white is just the default text color. Perhaps it should list the members with their colors, but currently it doesn't.
