As far as I know, this is the answer. There were a great number of complaints about it last world, too, but I don't recall the specific answer that was given or even if there was one. It was definitely a change from prior worlds where this did work. Several methods had been used to block animals from actually hitting previous to w11, and all ceased functioning then.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Yes, I do not recall when exactly, but at some time in recent past it seem they take efforts to prevent cheese tactics on tame animals.

I tried to tame a horse in water, this doesn't work. I tried to go ashore at 180 hp, this is also doesn't work. I cornered horse with bushes and it dies anyway. I have no idea, what should I do. :?

Of course, I can just raise all my stats and abilities to 100 and just fill her face in a clean field, but can someone explain to me what is the difference? How does this mechanism work? Why is the horse not tamed if I go ashore at its fleeing hitpoints?

I shouldn't but this is not an answer. Other people still able to tame animals in this way and I want to know why.

My speculate is that if animal can not path to you at any time during fight, it will not yield.
