Combat weights dont work at all?

The worst monsters in the Hearthlands warp the fabric of space and time...

Combat weights dont work at all?

Postby HasseKebab » Thu Mar 19, 2020 10:00 pm

I just tried using shield up and parry, both characters same stats and i get hit for the same opening.

Putting 5/5 or 1/5 dont change anything either.

Theres no way this is the way the weights are intended to work is it?

Edit: seems like weights are always the same as long the result weights are still inside the 2 factor which means parry and shield up for example still function as the weight.
Edit edit: apparently if you have for example 200 mc shield up against a 100 ua knock its teeth out 5/5 the weights actually work because they're no longer inside the 2 factor of each other XD

I too have noticed no difference when experimenting with animals. 5 fox hits against someone using Shield Up vs To Arms did the same openings.

Also EDIT:

If this is the case i find it very dumb.
Total misplay.

edit: I need to raise my reading comprehension by a few points...

Just for the record, the relative patch notes: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=67175

  • For Melee and Unarmed combat, fighters within a factor 2 of eachother in relevant stats are for all intents and purposes considered to be exact equals.
  • The gains from Melee and Unarmed combat beyond the factor 2 range increase more steeply than before to compensate somewhat, using a cube root instead of a fourth root as was historically the case.
  • The intention behind this change is to reduce the reliance on stats in combat significantly, while still maintaing a decent incentive to increase stats.

Ok I tested with someone within the range of "equal fighters"

4 kito cards vs 1 kito card, against chin up, both did 20 red opening.

This can't be intended, what's the point of μ then? 5/5 KITO vs 1/5 KITO, 1/5 has 4 extra free cards at the same attack power?
The 5/5 user would just waste cards?

EDIT: Tested against MC within "equal fighters" range.

4/4 KITO vs Shield UP = 20 red opening
4/4 KITO vs Parry = 20 red opening

EDIT2:
4/4 KITO vs Shield UP (without a shield) = 23 red opening

So it only matters if the attack weight (UA * μ) is over double/less than half than the block weight (Stance% * Block type)

Thus, 150 UA 5/5 KITO would be 225 Attack Weight, and 150 MC would be 120 block for parry and 375 block for shield up. So KITO does the same opening to both lmao.

So I suppose it is intended.

If this is intended behaviour it opens up going both UA and MC at the same time without being rekt by mono mc or ua players
