At a minimum, you should uninstall Java and reinstall the x64 version from https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Doing all that won't work. He needs to move onto a client that's been updated with the new render system.

Still should be done. Haven doesn't run well on 32-bit Java, and if you have a 64-bit OS, you'll get better performance on 64-bit applications, even if marginal.

Good point about Amber and the others. I saw the posts in Wizards' Tower, but didn't want to assume outright that's what the problem is here.

I download java from your link and uninstall the old version, however i still can't play. but i can play on normal launcher. i cant play on the amber client anymore.

It seems this has been a general issue with custom clients since a few days ago. Check also the thread for Amber's client.

oops, I think my problem was just the new slots

clearing game cache made the character accessible in default client

Checking that you have up-to-date-java of 64-bit

https://java.com/en/download/uninstalltool.jsp (won't actually uninstall Java if you follow the instructions)

Run this and make sure it says "only one up-to-date version of Java detected" after clicking "agree". Select "no" afterwards.

It will turn into window that tells your current version of Java.
