Hedgehog can kill an adder by biting on it's neck but this is very rare occurrence. At least my net search found an article which said that "hedgehogs kill adders" is mostly a myth originating from illustration in Finnish 1950s school book.

Hedgehog quills however provide somewhat adequate protection against adder bites as the fangs can't reach the skin through them.
