Wrong Spawn after death

Postby Valkir » Mon Aug 31, 2020 3:45 am

I recently had the unfortunate event of dying, not a big deal, this isn't my first world, however frustrated i went to bed and returned more than 24hrs later.
I remade my character inherited my stats from my prior character and went to respawn. After doing so I spawned right next to the personal claim of my secondary, temporary base.
My prior characters hearth fire was not located in this claim and I am confused why I spawned there rather than my main claim, on my hearth fire.

This puts me in a pickle mainly because I'm completely locked out of my main claim now and have no easy means to get in short of destroying a wall.

Is this normal? Was it cause I waited too long to reclaim my body? Why did I spawn at one claim rather than the other?

Appreciate the help.

Is it possible that someone destroyed the "pile of wood" that your dead character's hearth Fire turned into?

well, if the hearthfire turns into the "pile of would" after body have been decayed (never saw that though), then I think inheritance of the hf is possible only for limited amount of time after death... don't think you can re-light it even if it wasn't destroyed.

A very interesting situation, maybe someone actually took your character's things. Haven't faced similar problems yet

It is possible my things were looted from my body. I was not carrying a master key though.

It may have turned to a pile of wood, and that's fine. I'm more curious why it chose to spawn me next to one personal claim totem rather than the other.

Negative, my base is securely locked with no signs of a break in.

Also apologize on getting back to everything. My line of work revolves heavily around power lines, and as many of you know a hurricane rolled through The Gulf of Mexico and I have been responding to that.
Sadly, haven cant be life.

HF turning into "pile of wood" should be the normal thing to happen after you die, your descendant is supposed to spawn on it, but since it's effectively a regular pile of wood, it can be destroyed or lit into regular fire.

You spawning right next to your personal claim sounds like some sort of undocumented (or at least I don't remember reading anything like that) fix where you spawn next to your claim if your ancestor's HF is unavailable, with the assumption that you usually have your claim inside your base.
