Survey Land not giving dirt

Postby BALLISTICGAMER » Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:34 pm

I'm having a weird issue where digging up soil while surveying land doesn't give me the dirt. I've tried placing a stockpile of dirt as well, but it doesn't go into there either. This was happening on both the Amber client and the standard client.

For some reason it seemed to give dirt on really small surveys like less than 100 square meters, but it doesn't always work. Most of the time the dirt just disappears. It's not like sometimes I get dirt when digging, no either the survey gives all the dirt or none of it. Although one time it only didn't give the first unit of dirt, but it gave the next two. That was on a survey of I think 9 square meters. I only dug 3 times on that one.

And also I wasn't using any tools. I had a bucket of water and a stone axe equipped.

I think the surveys themself are bugged out. I can get dirt by not using a survey and using the dig option.

I don't know what's going on or why it's being sporadic.

Surveying is used to level the ground. If you are digging and there are tiles that are below your survey level, the soil you dig will be instantly used to fill those gaps.

When you use the survey tool, you get those dots that indicate the tile squares:
- If the square is green, that means the ground is at the same level as the survey
- If the square is red, that means the ground is above the level of the survey, which means your character will dig those spots to level them out.
- If the square is blue, that means the ground is below it, and it needs to be filled to reach the level of the survey. These squares will always be filled before you start dropping dirt on the ground.

When using a survey, just set the survey level lower into the ground, if you want to dig just for the sake of obtaining massive amounts of soil.

This is not a bug.

Oh, I hadn't noticed. Thanks.

I guess that's what happens when you survey before clearcutting a forest. I haven't surveyed much before.

Resolved. Not a bug.
