got a crash near a christmas tree when passing by, but found a way to walk away before re-creashing so did not save the bug report because found a way to keep playing, but now got this one here when i try to cut down a tree, tryed on custom client AND regular, also tryed cache clearing, clearing all then re-downloading, can't play a lot if i cant cut down tree for wood , so ya, don't know how to keep playing at this point, sorry in advance if its a stupid thing that is fixable by not being the idiot that i i'm.

If this is the error from the default client, then this is definitely a cache issue. If you say that you cleared the cache and that didn't help, it leaves me wondering if you did it wrong, somehow. Are you sure you cleared the right directory?

There seem to be a lot of people who get their caches polluted with old resources. I really wonder how that is happening.

That's just the launcher's cache, which is separate from the client's own cache. You're looking the "Haven and Hearth" directory, rather than "Haven Launcher". As mentioned in the link, however, do remember to export your map beforehand.

It sounds like you've managed to get resources from the pre-rendering client into your resource cache somehow. I'm really not sure how that would happen, perhaps a side-effect of some custom client? Not sure what the cause would be, but if you remove your cache directory, that should solve the problem. Just remember to export your map before doing that. :)
