The trail I'm traveling on literally blocks itself. This is akin to riding a roller coaster that can't move because it's functioning properly.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

For best results, you should have the marking arrow as close to perpendicular from the path you want the character to travel as possible to minimize the chance to clip the markers. If you're making a turn, make sure that the marker is on the side of the larger angle, rather than the acute side.

Looks like it is otherwise functioning as normal. I will note I wish it'd be fixed so the default placement was better/smarter/more aware of the last marker so you don't have to turn the fresh marker before placing it.

It is more about the next roadsign than the one being built.

Try to plan the path in advance so that you know where you will have turns, and make it smoother, with the path on the inner side and the roadsigns on the outer side. Avoid sharp turns.

Best option - put temporary stockpiles where you plan to have corners and try to walk the path while you are building it later, and place the roadsigns on its either side.

I built massive trail and all signs are blocking themselves. Fix this devs.

would be nice if it didn't, but this is old news, I think devs even warned about it back then

They should warn when you build path that blocks itself, so people don't find out only after they have built the trail for 1 hour.

Test it as you're building it, to make sure it works.

Well, it is dumb to be fair.
