Periodic lag makes the game unplayable

Periodic lag is occurring over the last two or three days that renders the game unplayable for me. It does not seem to go with the number of players logged in, nor with complexity in the environment caused by changes to the map or animations. It is just as bad when I am in the wilderness hunting as on my claim.

Logging back in and out does not fix this. However, it is intermittent. I can play for a few hours with only the normal amount of lag, and then find myself unable to move across the terrain for rubber banding, or it can disappear while I am still logged in.

One of the chief ways it is annoying is that it will not allow me to move the various menus I might have open, so my inventory and my character sheet cannot be moved to unobstruct my view. They pop back to some other position when I do try to move them.
