Speed on skis keeps resetting to 2nd

If you are on 3rd or 4th speed and if you dip below a certain stamina level, the skis put you at 2nd speed. You have to manually turn back to 3rd or 4th speed after drinking

Super annoying and nothing else in the game works like this

Yes it should definitely be consistent with run speed setting.

if you carry for example a whale skull and hearth inside a building on speed 4 you run on speed 1 or 2 or what it was inside buildings but drain stamina like on speed 4 xd
