Death by bug: Trapped on edge of land drowning from cliff

I popped down the cliff onto grass with swimstate off, sank through it and then started drowning with no way to survive and unable to hearth
since I lost all progress and stats due to game bug is there any way to get the character revived?

Yikes thats rough dude. Best you can do is go ahead and scoop up that body and bury it, if you restart your character you get a portion of what you lost back. Its decent enough that it will probably help your hunger a bit and youll be back to your stats in no time. Best thing to do on a cliff by water is to turn on swimming and enter the cave hole.

tried, but could not swim to the cave through the grass as I was stuck in the cliff somehow and just entirely unable to move

No revives, completely intended mechanic. Devs too lazy to care for their players sadly.

Water should be dangerous.

this grass is probably visual only(because it is on border of land and water) and the tile you were on is surely a deep water tile

indeed it sux when you accidentaly die in a stupid way, but try to be more careful next time and do not jump down cliffs next to deep water

bury your skeleton and skull to inherit more stats

I refuse to believe this still exists, after 8 other people died and reported the exact same issue during the last 2 worlds and jorb claimed they fixed it. A 9th one is added to the hall of fame. Congrats.

drowning inside of grass without the ability to swim despite high swimming skill and speed has nothing to do with being careful
I was locked into that spot entirely unable to move or hearth or climb
if I wasn't locked frozen I would have easily been able to swim out

the water was only dangerous because the game decided to anchor me in position with no recourse
I'm no carebear, this is genuinely just ridiculous
