doesn't look like major bug but it doesn't look right either.

This seems to happen with any kind of crafting when using stacks

I've had that happen somewhat regularly.
I don't think I've had too much of an issue with it, but I remember sometimes having to un-stack the single item so you can use the it for crafting.
