Something i was holding disappeared!

Hello. I was chatting to some people in game. I had acquired a rowboat through trade and charity. Then someone unknown came onto screen via the river. We started chatting until eventually I couldn't type into area chat anymore. I decided to leave the river, and travel to my hearthfire with my rowboat being carried. I walked into a burrow, logged out, closed the game, and then my entire PC crashed. When I came back online 10 seconds later I had no rowboat. I made sure I wasn't followed. What happened??

If you're carrying something overhead and logout it gets dropped nearby, and if there is no floor space it can be deleted. Was your burrow cramped? Was there space for a rowboat to be placed?
