Since the new world is on a horizon, I imagine a lot of people are thinking of or already have a strategy to their diet in order to progress in the most optimal/efficient way... and looking at the list of available food this game has to offer, most of it is very situational, if not "useless". I really like the idea of having a variety for rp reasons, but the reality is, people stick to the meta, and whenever new food is being added, it either replaces the old meta or just becomes completely ignored (i guess the same could be said about curiosities, combat moves, weaopons/armor, etc.). As the game continues its development, new foods will be added, and the ratio of "bad" food will keep growing and continue to flood the culinary menu. But what I'd really love to see is all the content in the game having an actual use that would worth player's time to invest in, as well as dev's time to be payed off. And as I already mentioned this problem isn't unique to the food only, but I think it can be somewhat fixed with the food by adding a "food craving" system similar to numen, where your character would have a craving of a number of different food types per FEP levelup that would give an increased FEP at reduced hunger level cost throughout the FEP levelup progress, with food types being added into craving list based on your maximum FEP level, i.e. at the very beginning your character would crave low FEP food, but as you progress you will crave for more advanced food types as well as still have a chance of craving simpler food, like bush berries even if your stats are over 1k. I think it would add value to the current and future food, as well as promote more trading/player interaction.
