Would be QoL and shouldn't be that hard to add these as gate build options to roundpole and stone fences, animals would simple see these always as closed gates unless being leashed or in combat.

Or maybe stop stuffing your animals into so small pen that they walk out instantly when you open the gate.

This look like good idea to me. There still will be irritate for moving animal in and out of pen though.

Leash and teleport to hearthfire.
Thats what I do to avoid gates right now.
Would be even cooler if cattle guard would let leashed animals go through but thats not very realistic.

You have dedicated character with hearthfire within pen to teleport animal back in? This is not bad solution I guess, though maybe cumbersome for usage.

It would be nice if leashed animal or animal you are riding can pass by this, but it is not so realisitic indeed.

Hearth fires worked for this purpose before the update to "fix" the taming "abuse", ok thats fine, but maybe we can get domesticated animals to be unable to step on hearth fire again? That was convenient...

A cattle guard would be a more self explanatory mechanic than using a line of hearth fires to a new player.
