  • Arcanum, our closest adversary, and is ~50 minutes of sailing away from my village
  • If I sail to arcanum there is a 95%+ chance they will not notice us or not want to fight
  • If we hit the 5% jackpot of somebody being outside if they don't want to fight it should be trivial for them to run into their safepali in <60 seconds
  • If they want to fight I will probably not have my friends there (because nobody wants to spend an hour for a 5% chance of a fight), so I might just have to leave if they have like 8 people anyway
  • If we win a fight all we will get is a li'l discord trash talk and a set of armor we could make in less than an hour 99% of the time

SMALLER WORLD AND CENTRAL SPAWNS PLS
During the entire 50 minute video I was AFK for > 47 minutes of it, so watching the video is nearly a 1:1 experience of playing it. If you can't see why this is dogshit gameplay or understand why fighting groups are quitting sooner and sooner every world idk what to say

Whats wrong with feasting, dont like the fact that its possible for someone to get double up of your stats?
Tho smaller world should be a lot funnier in terms of pvp activities, its hell for sprucecaps that you are gonna hunt :)

  • Central continent means single player gamers can fuck off through a vortex to somewhere else nobody will ever go
  • A market being central does more to keep people playing than a marginal increase in random killings does to hurt it (also you can't kill people)
  • World 12 had central spawns and its population was a lot more stable for longer both in terms of overall pop and how long faction fights were happening, and it's competing against the worlds that took place during covid lockdowns lmAO

There is literally no downside for any group, it's 100% upside for everybody

I think the map gen alone made this current world kinda bad. I would love to just see a pangea world with a decently big center land mass (still decently smaller than previous maps) and a very thin outer ocean. Oceans have almost no content anyways and if the oceans are small maybe the whalers would run into each other and end up fighting.

Continents were a cool novelty but I don't think they improved actual gameplay at all. I would also prefer 90% of the world to be 1 landmass.

Also this is a separate topic but I want whale and orca meat to be nerfed into the ground. Making whale hunting a mandatory part of playing the game after 1 month or so is honestly the part that makes me want to quit every world. I find it so fucking boring and it totally favors bots anyway. People would still kill whales for all the other OP stuff even without OP meat but the meat just makes every other type of food in the game redundant and its lame. Why can't they be more like trolls?

Tbh you could probably whirlpool to us in less than half an hour (or any other village for that matter), also the fact that you built so far is kinda on you due to not scouting, we literally spent like 1-2 hours to scout to be sure we are on the central continent (and then we got fucked due to it but eh).
But yeah oceans fucking suck and making the world a bit smaller and forcing central spawn would be a good change, at least it would save us the time to scout a central location.

Also +1 to the guy who also hates whaling, it's fucking bullshit time waster unless you use bots that just drive around until they find one (which the barnacle shit was supposed to prevent? idk it just made it even worse for everyone), some of my friends literally spent hours a day and didn't find a single one which is not very engaging experience that lead to them slowly quitting.

I paid a professional Indian cartographer $5,000 on fiverr to design this map using technology only available to professionals, it's magnificent:

  • Red line indicating initial spawn area
  • No land touching map borders
  • Elegant and cohesive design
  • Central ocean allowing for fast travel across the content when snekkja/knarr era happens
  • Small islands/landmasses around main continent allowing for people to escape main continent eventually (snekkja/knarr locked)
  • Whaling limited to center (better spawn rate because of competition) and sometimes around 4 corners

We had ~50 characters in the party at the start of the world and like 20 of them were SE/S/SW, so we figured we were close enough to the middle. Once we realized that wasn't true we coped that at least we were close to 3 whirlpools, but more than half the time they lead nowhere. Because most of the map is nowhere. Because it's so big.

You can pretend it's a skill issue instead of luck if you want, but of the 8 or so groups that wanted to fight this world only 3 of them were nearby other groups, and it was almost certainly because of luck.

Even so, none of these are arguments for not having a central continent. You're kinda just saying "it's not THAT bad", which is a bad standard imo
