Sure, but setting up achievements suggests that these are things players are supposed to achieve, which isn't necessarily the case. Haven and Hearth isn't about scoring points, raising stats, or defeating opponents any more than it's about chipping stones or picking flowers, those are just things you can do.

I think I found someone who was going for the 'most entrails stored in a closet' achievement. Not sure that's worth a trophy, either.

It doesn't suggest at all. Do you get a reward for it? Your strength increases? No. Achievement is different than reward.

An achievement is different from a reward, yes, but recognition of an achievement is not. Rewards aren't necessarily tangible in any way.

The way 'achievement' is understood in gaming generally implies some form of official recognition of player 'achievements'.

I just wish Path Of Exile wasn't so easy. Like roll-your-face-around-on-the-keyboard-and-still-win easy. Although admittedly I have only played for about 5 hrs or so.

Am I missing something? Does it get harder?

I mean you could say that the game really begins after you finish the campaign which probably would take you a bit more than 5 hours. I wouldn't say it's hard mechanically (unless you are doing your own build, then you need to study the game mechanics for like a month), but it does get more fun and at times frustrating, that's for sure. You can really build up your character to destroy basically any content ingame if you put enough currency into your gear, or you play the right build for it (ie. trap builds for bossing is ez mode but it's meh for mapping).

If you only played 5 hours and haven't really finished the campaign i would recommend trying to push through it (it sucks but it is the entry point to the game, most people just power through it in 7-10 hours), and then actually trying the content everyone powers through the campaign for, slowly building up your character and making content easier and faster really scratches an itch for me (Also dopamine hits whenever something expensive drops are just amazing).

They made the campaign harder not long ago, if you played 5 hours now youd probably have a harder time in act 1 etc.

In general though, no, it doesnt get harder and its not really supposed to be difficult. Until you start doing end game bosses with specific mechanics. Also if youre following some build on the internet its naturally gonna be way easier.

I think path of exile 2 aims to be a much harder classic ARPG style game. PoE1 is just like ultra zoom insane map clear and thats how the playerbase likes it but the devs are probably way more in agreement with you.

This is why famed sandbox games like Europa Universalis 4 and Factorio don't have achievements. It would ruin those games if people felt forced to play a specific way to get cosmetic McGubbins after all.
