Anti Scent System Is a Laughable Disaster

Scents are a important and fun part of the game, but what's fun about not being able to see some scents because the other guy botted his intxstealth to a point where nobody in the world can currently see?

Let alone me, how does a rando even get justice when no ranger can see the scents at all, let alone track it? It's laughable. It's yet another mechanic that exists just to shit on people that don't bot. Once again the fun is sucked out of the game.

I mean what does this garbage mechanic even add compared to what it takes away? "Oh, pat on the back, I botted my stealth and int so high that scents aren't even a mechanic anymore. Really enjoying that I can't interact with anyone ever because nobody is botting their perXexplor high enough to see my scents. Guess I'll continue to act as if this mechanic no longer exists because Loftar thinks anti tracking is fun, when it's really not, and just destroys the fun. "

Sorry guys no chance of having a meaningful pvp encounter, an actual experience in the world, because loftar says so arbitrarily, time to log off I guess.

Do you have schizophrenia Loftar? Is one voice telling you to add scents into the game, and the other is saying you don't want scents in the game? Is that why you have a mechanic that invalidates another mechanic? Lmao what even is this. Since we are getting rid of mechanics, why not add a anti snekk mechanic that lets you swim faster than a snekk, and never drown as long as you bot your con and str high enough? If we are invalidating actual meaningful and enjoyable mechanics, then why stop at scents?

In case you are wondering why I'm so pissed, even until the end of the world, i'm never gonna have the 500perxexplor to see scents that high, which means a gameplay encounter has been utterly and permanently robbed from me. The most fun I had this world was tracking a guy who knocked out our villager and fled down a river, and fighting them before they got away. Now I can't get that experience again because...

Remove anti tracking, it adds nothing. It isn't even fun for the person with the botted anti tracking stats because they also lose out on a meaningful pvp encounter. You don't need it in the game, you really don't.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Honestly the counter never made any sense because your raising it so people dont track you, but the people likely to track you have stats to easily track. It only serves to cause problems with the newbies who have all their shit stolen or broken to then turn on tracking and have no idea wtf is going on because they don't have 50k pe to see the scents and think its a bug and come to forums to complain, then loftar has to look at the logs and waste time doing that instead of developing the next birb (maybe swallow atm),

Root problem this suggestion is addressing: Over the recent year or two, there has been like a dozen bug reports about stuff disappearing that could be explained by someone having bashed said stuff, but because the owner of the stuff can't see any scents, they rightfully assume it may have been a bug. Recent example.

Biggest potential problem with the system I proposed is that you could have a bot use fresh characters to patrol the entire world for scents. When you find one, you go there with a developed character to pick it up.

Depending on ideology and how the emergent gameplay would end up, potentially many people might still consider that an improvement.

just make scents visible anyway, but if you try to track without having enough pe, game tells you exactly that instead of drawing the dowse direction.
