Pouch for Slingshot ammo

Postby Vedurin » Thu Jun 12, 2025 10:19 am

Can we please have a pouch for slingshot ammo?

Slingshots not pulling stones from stacks is frankly quite annoying and turning off stacking and using a lot more inventory space for spare ammo does in no way add any depth to the game other than "hey, i found a way to complicate things in an unnecessary way".

A pouch might work like a Quiver:
- even a 9 by 9 inventory would help a lot. I usually carry 10 stones around to deplete before i stash up on new ammo.
- the pouch inventory does not need to stack. 1 Stone one slot, like a quiver.
- Since Slingshots are usually early game weapons i'd suggest a recipe like two dried hides and a string.

I think they must add craftable ammo for slingshot to do this, otherwise every miner stack their stones in pounches in chests as ore also a stone

Lead shot would make sense. Improved damage and stackability.

And why can't a lump of coal work as slingshot ammo.

Honestly, this one might be the only thing that needs to be fixed. Just auto-pull from stack, I'd even have a free spot if it can spare me the trouble of manually un-stacking a stone for each shot.

IIRC Black Coal can. Charcoal is quite light and fragile, so it wouldn't really do a lot of damage. Then again, so is soapstone.

With the way my coal has been mostly a by-product of tar extraction, I'd love an option to just set the stockpile itself ablaze as a no-build campfire and a way to downcycle coal to ashes, even at a 1:0.01 though 1:0.05-0.10 woulg be a more fair deal.

Patch notes for world 17: "Now can use coins as a slingshot ammo. Weird way to do charity."

Though in the context of slingshot, just using nuggets is ok. you really aren't shooting as much as you think.

There's a big difference between charcoal and coal. When I was a kid (eons ago) a chunk of coal was just as good as a chunk of gravel in a rock fight.

Yup - which is why I said that Black Coal, similar to other ores and stones, should remain throwable.
