W16. Bone sharp tool?

Postby Flyrella » Thu Mar 05, 2026 9:55 pm

Like a knife made of a branch, string and a bone or something like that.
Im a humble hermit without good industry and just breeding pigs. And unless I buy top q shears for tokens once in every few weeks, there is no way for me to get a decent sharp tool to butcher my own pigs :(
Or at least it should be softcapping, not hardcapping animal products
Or any late game sharp tool which is not dependent on metal spiralling.

Then sell pork and sausage. Bone sharp tool seems like it would increase the q spiral without putting effort into industry.

Bone saw exists just fine for example and affects quality of boards. A knife would just hardcap animal products without contributing to quality itself.

Also people dont buy pork/sausages for tokens or high q tools btw. Those who have top q industry going on also have animals too, so dont need anything from farming hermits.

I've seen lots of russian players asking to buy any "homemade"(domestic) meat in various discords. the exchange rate is probably unpreferable(pork to emeralds/rubies/berries/shitcoins for tokens) but it's absolutely possible

As a hermit, whatever I can realistically buy for coins will already significantly cap my animals. Plus animals q grows constantly and the higher it is, the faster it grows. But without a sharp tool whole animal selection is absolutely pointless late game. So like does it mean industry is the only aspect of the game which is worthy to dedicate my time to?

Plus im in w16, so food demand is really low, I don't even know anyone who buys it now, people only want black ore cheaply or top q feldspar, flint, quartz or cave clay. That's about it.

What q are you even getting capped at? I think 16.1 still has fishing trash enabled, you can just fish up q300 slag or something. Or go to a flint wash, and grab some string from a WWW or something.
If the old world has an unfavorable economy, I don't think that means worlds going forward should have a change made to the q grind.

According to information online, bone knives are ineffective. I don't think the quality of meat and hides will be good if cut with such a tool.
Tools made in large villages will still be of higher quality, but even on your own, you can develop an infrastructure sufficient for your own needs.

If you want to specialize in only one "profession" and develop rather than just have fun, it's better to team up with someone.

Or, as was suggested, buy the necessary goods. There's always a demand for meat at the market.
My english is bEd.

It doesn't matter if you are hermit. Its fairly easy to find cave, mine some walls, get rustroot and prospect. tin+copper are literally everywhere, just need to invest some time into it. With that you get nice tools that will help you out.
W16.1 - Pet Sematary (hermit)
W8 - Hermitage
W7 - Emerald City
W6 - Gomorrah
W5 - Pandemonium
W4 - Angkor
W3 - Angkor
